"The Color You Need Now ... Peacock Blue"
"The peacock blue of this silk wallcovering makes a bold and colorful contrast to the more subtle
bone-colored bookcases. It gives a strong and sophisticated feel to the room yet still works
beautifully with the softer, more feminine pinks." - designer Markham Roberts
One of those old-school colors that make you think of grand hotels and beautifully appointed dining
cars, peacock blue covers the walls of libraries, butler's pantries, and other spaces where intimacy
and a little intensity seem appropriate. It's nothing new - James McNeill Whistler painted the hotly
debated and now famous Peacock Room in London more than a century ago, and its drama and beauty
still awe visitors at the Freer Gallery in Washington, D.C. Of course, this shade of blue doesn't
have to be intense - when painted with a lighter color, it takes its cues from the coast and becomes
more tranquil and casual.
